About me
Jerica Richanne Scullawl-Gates
- I am a Cherokee, a wife, an Army Veteran, and the mother of two young men, Taylor, age 22 and Zane, age 18 and have a stepdaughter, Ashlyn, age 19.
- My husband, Buck, and I are both graduates of Tulsa's Raymond S. McLain high school, classes of 1988 and 1989, before Tulsa Public Schools changed the mascot and we were still the Scotts.
- I served in the Army for 3 years and used my G.I. money to complete a Bachelor's Degree in Native American Studies at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah in 2005.
- I became a Certified Graphics Design Specialist in 2012 at Northeast Technology Center in Pryor.
- My birthday is September 11th 1969, my mother was planning to go to a concert in New York, but couldn't because she was pregnant and no one believed she should travel, so I missed my chance to be born at Woodstock.
- I own on a small farm with 7 goats, 39 chickens, 6 cats, 2 dogs, a rabbit, a rat, a triple registered former National Champion miniature horse stallion and one little orange Platty.
- I work from May thru September as a Park Ranger for the Army Corps of Engineers at Skiatook and Birch lakes in Osage County. I get to interact with lots of people and wildlife during a typical work day, and I spend most of my workday outside, in nature, and it's awesome!
- I primarily work in clay and 3D sculpture, I am looking forward to learning more about 2D media. I love to sculpt.
- I spend almost 5 years in the Alaskan bush, until 1984. During that time we did not have electricity, running water, indoor plumbing as well as many other modern conveniences we take for granted everyday here.
- I have always enjoyed Japanese Anime all my life (being a 4th generation Army brat I was exposed to it around 5 or 6 years old) as well as Science Fiction programs, my grandparents had a huge painting of the Enterprise over their sofa.
- I practice traditional Cherokee religion, the Stomp Dance, and used to dance Southern Cloth in Pow Wows.
- I am all about every shade of purple and anything to do with Dachshunds.
